Bandits in Kaduna State took a man hostage and killed him. His family has been asked to pay N10 million for his body. Obadiah Ibrahim, who was 34 years old, was taken from the Sabon Gaya area of the state on his way back from Abuja at the beginning of October.
Kefas Obadiah, the brother of the person who died, said, “The kidnappers wouldn’t let go of my brother, even after they got N3 million in ransom. Obadiah Ibrahim is the name of my brother. He was taken from Sabon Gaya on his way back from Abuja to Kaduna at the beginning of October.
Even though I wasn’t the one talking to the bandits. There was a person who negotiated. Before, the bandits asked for N200 million, but later they agreed to settle for N3 million or more.
They told us to bring the cash. After we paid them the ransom, they said the money was for their food, which had run out, and that we should bring N15 million.
Later, they agreed to settle for N5 million and three motorcycles, but only got one bike. We didn’t hear from them again after they got the bike. We tried to get in touch with them, but we were unable to.
Then, when the negotiator called them on Thursday, they told him, “Our brother is dead.” We thought they were messing with us. When we didn’t stop, they said they would find the caller and go get him if he didn’t stop calling.
They said that the police took their men, tied them to a tree, and killed them. So, they took out their anger on our brother, too, because the police had hurt their brother.
They told us on Thursday that Ibrahim had died on Monday. We asked for his corpse, and they said that if we want it, we have to pay them N10m. They won’t work for us for free. They swore that if we brought the money, the corpse would be released in three days. Read More News Here.
