Pakishe Aaron Motsoaledi was born on August 7th, 1958, in Polokwane, Limpopo, South Africa.  He is a member of the African National Congress political party. He studied at the University of Natal and became a medical doctor.
In addition to his medical career, Aaron Motsoaledi has also been involved in politics, serving as a legislator and political consultant. He was an anti-apartheid activist and has held various positions in the government, including in the cabinets of Zuma I and Zuma II.

Pakishe Aaron Motsoaledi was born in a family of nine children to Kgokolo Michael Motsoaledi and Sina Sekeku Maile. He grew up in Phokwane village in Limpopo Province, South Africa.
When he was eight years old, he witnessed the arrest of a neighbor for not carrying a “dompas” which made him aware of the political situation in his country.
Aaron Motsoaledi attended Setotolwane High School for his secondary education. He then went on to study at the University of Natal in the late 1970s,  where he earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree.
During his time at university, he was elected to the student representative council in 1980 and played a role in the formation of the Azanian Students’ Organisation (AZASO), where he served as the national correspondence secretary.
Motsoaledi has been involved in politics since the 1980s. He held various positions within the African National Congress (ANC) and served as a member of the Limpopo Provincial Legislature from 1994 to 2009. During this time, he held positions such as MEC for Education and MEC for Transport.
From 2009 to 2019, Motsoaledi served as the Minister of Health. During his tenure, he administered the first South African state patient a fixed dose combination antiretroviral tablet. He also served on the UNAIDS-Lancet Commission on Defeating AIDS.
In May 2019, Motsoaledi was appointed as the Minister of Home Affairs. In November 2019, he was implicated in a bribery and murder investigation, but he denied any involvement.
