The #YouthforGLCA is a collaborative effort between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) China Office, the Department of International Cooperation of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), the Center for International Agricultural Research of CAAS, and the Young Professionals for Agricultural Development (YPARD).
Building upon the success of the previous year’s Youth Hackathon for Reducing Food Loss and Waste, which saw participation from 21 countries and generated a flood of creative proposals, this year’s event aims to continue the momentum and tackle the challenges of agricultural green development and carbon reduction.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria
The Youth Hackathon for Green Low-Carbon Agriculture 2023 is open to all young professionals across the globe. Team members, ideally between 18 and 40 years old, regardless of nationality, are encouraged to participate. Projects and proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Creativity and Innovation – How unique and inventive is the proposed solution?
Landing and Scalability – Is the idea practical and capable of being implemented on a larger scale?
Sustainability – Does the project contribute to long-term sustainability in agriculture?
Business Model – How viable is the proposed business model?
Use of Open Data – Does the project leverage open data sources effectively?
Technical Difficulties – Are there any technical challenges that need to be overcome?
Design and User Experience – How user-friendly is the proposed solution?
Demonstrated Effects – What impact is expected when the solution is applied or demonstrated?
