Five years after he was in the movie “Bruno and the Law,” Jerry Amilo was almost killed in a terrible car accident. Jerry said that in 1998, when the accident happened, he and his lawyer friend were on their way from Enugu to Lagos.

They were going to the Reels Award in Lagos that year. Along the way, one of the car’s front tires came off, and it flipped over several times. Jerry was in a coma for three days while his lawyer friend died on the spot.

In fact, he was rushed to the funeral home with the lawyer. He could have been put in the freezer right away, but the building didn’t have electricity, so he was kept outside.

On the third day, he woke up in the morgue, which made the workers run away. Some brave Youth Corps members who were working at the hospital went up to him and made sure he was still alive.

He had been in a coma for three days, which was found out later. His lawyer friend didn’t make it, which was sad. Jerry Amilo spent another two years in the hospital, during which time he didn’t act.
