The colonel, who was born in Davao City, holds master’s degrees in both military analysis and development security. He previously served as the commander of the Presidential Escorts Battalion within the Presidential Security Group.

A graduate of the Philippine Military Academy’s Tanglaw Diwa Class of 1992 and a native of Davao, Durante has a master’s degree in defense analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School in California, USA, and another in public management, with a focus on development security, from the Development Academy of the Philippines.
Few Facts About Gen Jesus Durante
Colonel Jesus Durante III of the Philippine Army has been appointed as the new head of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) by President Rodrigo Duterte.
A change of command ceremony will take place on February 25, where Durante will officially take over from Brigadier General Jose Eriel Niembra.
The PSG is responsible for ensuring the safety of the President, Vice President, their families, previous Presidents and Vice Presidents, and visiting Heads of State on official business.
Durante is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy, a “full-blooded Scout Ranger” and has been awarded many medals by the Philippine Army.
He previously served as the commanding officer of the 2nd Scout Ranger Battalion and has a master’s degree in defense analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School in California.
He also has Master of Science in Public Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines. Niembra will be promoted to brigade commander of the Army’s 701st Infantry Brigade.
