She was born in the Lawanson neighborhood of Surulere, Lagos. her parents; Alhaji Layiwola Abdulfatai Machado, her father was from the Brazilian Quarters of Lagos Island, and Hajiya Mistura Machado Abudu, her mother was from Isoyin, Ogun State. Both of them died before she was born.
she went to the Methodist Primary School on Subuola Street for her primary education. After that, she went to the New Era Girls Secondary School in Surulere.
She got her BA in English Studies from the University of Ife, which is now called Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. This was in 1985.

She grew up in Surulere and got married there in 1989. According to her older brothers and sisters, she was spoiled because she was the youngest. But in the end, our parents helped us get an education. So nothing stopped us from getting an education.

When she met my husband, she was working at Newswatch. Later, she worked as an ad consultant for Independent Communications Network Limited (ICNL), and then in 2002, she joined the public service in Lagos State.
As public servants, it is our job to put government plans, projects, and programs into action. Not only that, but we also help make policies, talk to the public, and make sure that stakeholders are involved.
