UNICAL Student Dies
The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has announced that an investigation will be conducted into the death of a 300-level student. She is from the Department of Library and Information Science.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Florence Obi, has issued an urgent directive for the medical board of the university to begin an examination into the circumstances leading to the student’s death.
The order, which was conveyed in an official document signed by Gabriel Egbe, the registrar of UNICAL, emphasizes the importance and value that the university places on its students.
According to Egbe, the entire institution is deeply saddened and devastated by the tragic loss that has been reported at the medical center of the university.
In light of this, the medical board has been instructed to undertake a thorough investigation into the deceased’s admission at the University Medical Center.
This investigation will aim to determine if the UNICAL student’s death could have been prevented and will also examine the roles played by individual staff members of the Medical Center in managing the patient’s care.
Additionally, the medical board will also be tasked with investigating any allegations of carelessness or negligence of duty among the hospital staff in handling the patient.
The board will then provide recommendations to the university’s management on how to avoid similar situations in the future.
By conducting this investigation, the university hopes to ensure the safety and well-being of all its students and provide closure for the family of the deceased UNICAL student.
