In March 2019, Osimhen was taken out of the Super Eagles team so he could play for the Nigerian U23 team against Libya. The Super Eagles were behind by two goals at the time. In the return game against Libya in Asaba, he scored three goals.
Victor Osimhen was on coach Gernot Rohr’s provisional list of 25 players for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. He was also on the final list of players for the tournament.
