Elias Wondwosen Yemer, born on April 10, 1996, in Skara, Sweden, is a professional tennis player from Sweden. Standing at 1.85 meters (6 feet 1 inch), he turned pro in 2014 and plays right-handed with a two-handed backhand.
Yemer, coached by Galo Blanco in 2015 and Robin Söderling from 2017 to 2018, also trained under Christian Brydniak. His current prize money stands at $1,551,310.
Yemer, the elder brother of former tennis player Mikael Ymer, was born to Ethiopian immigrant parents. In 2022, he joined Harvard Business School’s “Crossover into Business” program along with ten other athletes.
Career Highlights
Yemer made his ATP main draw singles debut at the 2013 Swedish Open, securing a wildcard at the 2014 Swedish Open where he defeated Mikhail Kukushkin in the first round. However, he fell to João Sousa in the second round.

Qualifying for the main draw of the 2015 Australian Open, Yemer reached the third round at the 2015 Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell. He also won his first ATP Challenger title at the 2015 Città di Caltanissetta.

In 2016, Yemer won his maiden ATP title in doubles with his brother at the Stockholm Open.
2018: First Grand Slam Match Win
Securing a place in the main draw for the 2018 French Open, Yemer won his first Grand Slam main draw match by beating Dudi Sela in straight sets.
2022–2023: First ATP Semifinal and Top-20 Win
In 2022, Yemer achieved his first top-20 win by defeating Aslan Karatsev in straight sets at the 2022 Maharashtra Open. He reached his maiden semifinal in the tournament, moving up 20 spots in the rankings.
Ranked No. 170 at the 2023 Abierto Mexicano Telcel, Yemer reached the main draw as a lucky loser and advanced to the second round by defeating Adrian Mannarino. He also reached the quarterfinals at the 2023 Stockholm Open.
