Deputy Governor and Acting Governor

Shonubi’s expertise and contributions to the Nigerian financial sector were further recognized when he became the Deputy Governor in charge of the Operations Directorate at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on December 9, 2019.

In this role, he represented the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria on the Board of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). On June 9, 2023, Shonubi’s capabilities and extensive experience led to his appointment as the Acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria by President Bola Tinubu.
