Khayat has received the French Medal of Arts and Literature with the rank of officer in 2020, for his 60 years of work in theatre in the French and Franco-Lebanese languages. Despite the Lebanese Civil War, he continued to work and was recognized for his contributions by The Gebran Tueni Foundation and Fakhruddin Foundation in Lebanon.
