Airtel eSIM is a special kind of SIM card that is built into devices like smartphones, smartwatches, and other gadgets. It allows you to have all the same benefits and services as you would with a regular SIM card.

You can activate eSIM without physically changing or touching the card. The Airtel eSIM is a standard that was created by a group called GSMA and it lets you set up your mobile service from anywhere, without needing to be near a physical store.

How to Activate Airtel eSim

To see if your phone works with an eSIM, dial *#06#. If a number called an “EID” appears, your phone can use Airtel eSIM. To set it up, go to an Airtel service center and ask for help from a customer service agent.

They will guide you through the process. You can find the closest service center by clicking on the “Airtel Centre” link. When going to the center make sure you go with your required ID cards for documentation, most especially your NIN.

How to Activate Airtel eSim Profile in Your Devices

All the steps are almost the same, the only differences are how to locate your mobile network settings. As every phone has its own features and location of where they set up their mobile settings.

Follow This Steps for iPhone Devices

  • Locate you phone Settings> Cellular Data / Mobile Data (NB: iPhone 11 series above displays Mobile Data Plan. iPhone 10 Series shows Cellular Data).
  • Click on add a cellular plan/ Mobile Data Plan.
  • Scan the QR code which you have received from Their customer care agent.
  • Ensure the Device is connected to the internet (Wifi or mobile data).
  • Label eSim (Under “Label for your new plan” Section).

Follow This Steps for Google Pixel 3

  • Locate your settings and click on network & internet and select Mobile Network.
  • Tap on the Advanced option, select “Carrier” and click on “Add Carrier.”
  • Scan your QR code which you have received from Their customer care agent.
  • Ensure the Device is connected to the internet (Wifi or mobile data)
  •  Their customer care agent will associate the eSIM serial and PUK number on the QR code with the new phone number.

Follow This Steps for Samsung Device

  • Go to Settings then to Connections.
  • Select SIM Card Manager
  • Click on Add Mobile Plan
  • Scan your QR code which you have received from their customer care agent.
  • Ensure the Device is connected to the internet (Wifi or mobile data)
  • Their customer care agent will associate the eSIM serial and PUK number on the QR code with the new phone number.

How to Deactivate Airtel eSim Profile in Your Devices

The process is just like the reverse procedure of how you activated your eSim profile. follow the below steps to see how you can deactivate your Airtel eSim profile.

iPhone:

  • Go to settings > Cellular / Mobile Data
  • Select “Remove Mobile Data Plan” / Remove Cellular Data Plan
  • eSIM is removed from phone.

Google Pixel:

  • Go to settings and select mobile network.
  • Click the toggle button.
  • Phone displays “turning off eSIM”
  • Click on “Erase SIM” and select “Erase.”
  • Phone displays Erasing SIM
  • eSIM is removed from phone.

Samsung Device:

  • Go to settings and select Connections.
  • Select Remove all Data Plan
  • eSIM is removed from phone.

Is EID Number the Same as IMEI Number?

To see if your phone can use an eSIM, dial *#06#. If you see a number called an “EID”, it means your phone is compatible with an eSIM. This number is different from the “IMEI” number, which is a different type of identification for your phone.

Scan the QR code that the customer service representative has provided for you in order to download the Airtel eSIM. This occurs after a SIM switch has been performed, during which the existing SIM serial number is replaced with the eSIM serial number.

Call 111 or walk into any of the Airtel Showroom and request for the MSISDN to be blocked. You can immediately initiate a SIM swap if you have another mobile device and proof of identity.

Is the Airtel eSim Swap Process Different from Regular Sim Swap Process? No, the process is same however you will need to download the eSIM profile into an eSIM device upon successful swap.

There will be an indication on the phone that shows that the eSIM is active (the eSIM can be primary or secondary SIM). Also, the network for the eSIM will become active.

Yes, you can switch your Airtel eSIM profile from one phone to another. Steps to switch eSIM Profile from one phone to another phone are shown below.

  • Connect Old phone to WiFi
  • Remove Data Plan from old phone.
  • Turn phone Off.
  • Connect New Phone to WiFi
  • Scan your Airtel eSIM profile to your new phone.
