This departure is due to the unfortunate circumstance of attending his father’s funeral in Dakar. The Senegalese Football Federation conveyed their condolences to Kouyaté and his family during this difficult time.
Kouyaté, recognized as one of Senegal’s most seasoned players with an impressive record of 88 senior caps, made the decision to be present at his father’s funeral, which was scheduled for January 17, 2024.
The solemn event was set to take place at the Khar Yalla mosque, followed by the burial proceedings.
