Jayam Ravi, originally named Mohan Ravi, is a well-known Indian actor in the Tamil film industry. He’s earned accolades like a Filmfare Award and three SIIMA Awards. Born on September 10, 1980, in Tirumangalam, Madurai, India, Jayam Ravi hails from a family deeply rooted in films.

His father, A. Mohan, is a respected film editor, and his elder brother, Mohan Raja, is a renowned film director who often casts Jayam Ravi in leading roles. Jayam Ravi’s early life was split between Chennai and Hyderabad, where he attended Jawahar Vidyalaya in Ashok Nagar, Chennai.

Despite his academic pursuits, his passion for the arts, particularly Bharatnatyam dance, became evident from a young age. He trained under Nalini Balakrishnan and achieved an arangetram, a significant milestone in Bharatnatyam.

After completing his Visual Communication degree from Loyola College, Chennai, Jayam Ravi decided to explore his artistic talents further and underwent training at the Kishore Namit Kapur Institute in Mumbai.

Before his acting career took off, Jayam Ravi worked behind the scenes as an assistant director, collaborating on the film “Aalavandhan” (2001) with director Suresh Krishna. This experience gave him valuable insights into filmmaking.

Jayam Ravi’s official acting debut came with “Jayam” (2003), a Tamil action-masala film. He continued to impress with roles in films like “M. Kumaran Son of Mahalakshmi” (2004) and “Daas” (2005), establishing himself as a versatile actor.

In 2006, he starred in “Unakkum Enakkum,” a romantic drama directed by his brother Mohan Raja. This film became a commercial success, further solidifying Ravi’s position in the industry.

His cinematic journey continued with “Deepavali” (2007) and “Santhosh Subramaniam” (2008), both under his brother’s direction, exploring family dynamics and relationships.

In 2008, Jayam Ravi appeared in three films, including “Dhaam Dhoom,” an action thriller that garnered acclaim despite production challenges.

Jayam Ravi is married to Aarti since 2009, and they have two sons. Aarti is the daughter of renowned television producer Sujatha Vijayakumar.

Jayam Ravi and Aarti have two sons named Aarav and Ayaan, born in 2010 and 2014, respectively.
