TechWomen Leadership Program 2024 in the USA aims to empower emerging women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) from Africa, Central and South Asia, and the Middle East.

This mentorship and exchange program connect participants with their professional counterparts in the United States, providing a platform for growth and collaboration.

Program Highlights

1. Networking and Expertise

TechWomen Leadership Program fosters connections by providing participants with access to networks, tools, and expertise essential for reaching their greatest potential in the STEM fields.

2. Project-Based Mentorships

Throughout the five-week program, participants engage in project-based mentorships at leading companies in the San Francisco Bay Area or Chicago. This hands-on experience enhances their skills and knowledge.

3. Professional Development

Participants attend workshops and networking events, gaining insights and skills crucial for their professional development.

4. Travel Opportunities

The program includes travel to Washington, DC, for targeted meetings and special events, offering exposure and networking on a broader scale.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Professional Experience

  • Minimum two years full-time professional experience in STEM fields.
  • Note: Internships and unpaid work experience do not count toward the two-year requirement.

2. Educational Background

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

3. Language Proficiency

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

4. Citizenship

  • Citizens and permanent residents of specific countries during the application and program participation.
  • Eligible to obtain a U.S. J-1 exchange visitor visa.

5. Exclusions

  • Not applied for an immigrant visa to the United States in the past five years.
  • Not a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Preference for Applicants Who

  • Demonstrate emerging leadership in their professional track.
  • Commit to sharing knowledge and mentoring in their home countries.
  • Have limited or no prior experience in the United States.
  • Show a record of voluntary or public service and entrepreneurialism.

Covered Costs

The program covers various costs, including:

  • Roundtrip international airfare.
  • Domestic airfare.
  • Housing during the mentorship period.
  • Meals, incidentals, and hotel stay in Washington, D.C.
  • Public and local transportation.

Participants are responsible for non-program activities and travel.

Housing Arrangements

Participants share apartments in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, California, Emeryville, California, or Chicago, Illinois, based on the location of their host company.

TechWomen 2024 Timeline

  • Application period: Open until January 10, 2024, at 09:00 AM PST (GMT-08:00).
  • Applicants notified by April 30, 2024.
  • Final decisions by May 31, 2024.
  • Results notification for all applicants.
